Masdar (Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company) was established in 2006 as a commercially driven enterprise that operates in energy and sustainable technology industries worldwide. A part of the Masdar City master plan is the construction of the Masdar Field Station, which is the offgrid research building designated for solar tracking and gas experiments on the campus.
Highly sustainable features of the completed buildings include low-flow fixtures, efficient appliances, a gray water treatment system that receives condensate from cooling towers, an exterior envelope with a high insulation value, a sophisticated network of sensors to maintain good indoor air quality, and roof-mounted PV panels to provide electricity.
